About Us

HoursChecking exists for one simple reason: a wasted trip is annoying. You drive to a pharmacy that closed an hour earlier than the listing said, reach a bank on a Saturday afternoon it never opens, or plan a Sunday run to a craft store that is closed on Sundays. Most of the time the problem is not the store — it is an hours listing that was copied years ago and never checked again.

We built HoursChecking to do that checking properly. Every guide on this site covers one brand in depth: its regular weekly hours, Sunday schedule, holiday hours, department times and the hours of 50 individual locations — all verified against the brand’s own official sources before anything is published.

What We Do

HoursChecking is a store-hours directory covering 117 major US brands across 20 categories — retail, grocery, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, home improvement, gyms, shipping counters and public offices. For each brand we publish one detailed guide that includes:

  • A quick answer up top: today’s opening and closing times, stated plainly, before anything else.
  • A full weekly table: Monday to Sunday opening and closing times, including how weekends differ from weekdays.
  • Sunday hours in their own section: Sunday is the day schedules change most, so it never gets buried inside the weekly table.
  • Holiday hours: open, closed or modified schedules for the ten major US holidays, checked against the brand’s current holiday policy.
  • Department hours separated: pharmacy counters, delis, auto centers, returns desks and similar departments listed on their own lines wherever the brand publishes them.
  • A 50-location hours table: real locations with their own opening and closing times, because the store near you is the one that matters.
  • A map in every guide: an embedded map under the “near you” section so you can find the closest location and check its hours before travelling.

How We Verify Hours

Our rule is simple: a schedule is only as good as its source. Every guide goes through the same four-step process, and the same process runs again whenever a change is reported.

Step 1: Official sources first

We take hours from the brand itself — its official store locator, its own location pages, corporate announcements and official holiday notices. We do not build guides by copying other hours directories, because that is exactly how wrong times spread from site to site.

Step 2: Cross-checks for conflicts

Official sources sometimes disagree with each other — a locator page may lag behind a newer location page. When that happens we compare the brand’s own listings, prefer the most recently updated official source, and note the variation in the guide instead of pretending one time fits every store.

Step 3: Dated checks and holiday reviews

Hours change quietly and often. Guides are re-checked on a rolling basis, and ahead of major holidays we review the holiday sections again so Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter guidance reflects this year’s policy rather than last year’s.

Step 4: Corrections, verified before publishing

Readers and store managers regularly spot changes before anyone else. Every correction sent to us is checked against the official source first; once verified, the guide is updated. If you have spotted an error, the fastest route is our Contact Us page.

What Makes HoursChecking Different

  • Depth per brand: one long, complete guide per brand instead of hundreds of thin, auto-generated location pages repeating the same template.
  • Location-level detail: a 50-location hours table in every guide, so you can check the pattern at stores near you rather than trusting a single “typical” schedule.
  • Maps included: every guide embeds a map in its “near you” section — something most hours directories skip entirely.
  • Departments treated properly: a pharmacy that closes at 7 PM inside a store that closes at 10 PM is listed as closing at 7 PM.
  • No copied listings: our text and tables are written from official sources, in our own words, for this site.
  • Honest about variation: when locations genuinely differ, we say so and show the range, instead of inventing one tidy answer.

Our Coverage

HoursChecking currently covers 117 brands in 20 categories, US-wide. Restaurants are the largest group (28 brands), followed by banks (16) and department stores (13), with grocery chains, pharmacies, home improvement, shipping, fitness, public offices and more rounding out the directory. Shoppers planning errands are the biggest group of readers, but the guides are equally used by drivers, shift workers, carers, and anyone who has ever stood in front of a locked door reading a faded hours sign.

Independence and Trademarks

HoursChecking is an independent directory. We are not owned by, affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of the brands, banks, agencies or organisations listed on this site, and no brand pays to have its hours listed, changed or promoted. All store names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners; they are used on this site only to identify the businesses whose hours we describe. For the full legal wording, see our Disclaimer and Terms of Service.

Who Runs HoursChecking

HoursChecking is run as a small independent project rather than by a large media company — the same small team researches the schedules, writes the guides, reviews corrections and maintains the site. Updates happen continuously: new brands are added, existing guides are re-checked, and verified corrections are folded in as they arrive. There is no sponsored placement in our hours data, and there never will be: a schedule is either what the official source says, or it gets fixed.
